Mamma Mia the Musical

OMG! If your a massive fan of Abba, you must come and see Mamma Mia the Musical. It was absolutly fantastic! Deffinetly one of the best musicals ive been to so far! I loved every mminute of it. So we drove up there as I hate getting the train up to London. I rarely ever go up London unless there is a show that I want to go to or and attraction as I hate the crowded and busy pavements. I dont know why I just get anxious. The show started at 7:30PM but we were running late as always because there was so much traffic going to the Blackwall tunnel. It was so annoying. If any of you are unfamiliar of the movie Mamma Mia, its all about this girl called Sophie, and she’s getting married to a guy called Skye and she really wants to find her father who she’s never met before. So she finds her mum Donnas diary and she reads all about the men Donna has dated. Sam Carmichael Bill Anderson and Harry Bright. She then invites them all to her wedding and all of the songs are all Abba. It was just a very happy and feel good show. There we all dancing and singing. It was just so incredible. There were lots of dancing, singing and I loved it!

What was the access like?

So access at the Norvello theatre is brilliant. You go through a little side door as there are steps going up at the front of the building. Once through the side door, theres a stair lift and my chair fitted perfectly. The staff there was all so friendly especially this one particullar lady that we had helping us. We stayed in the dress circle and I had an amazing view but what was really frustrating was that I forgot my glasses so I couldnt really see their faces. But how annoying is that though? Unfortunatly there was quite a big gap between my parents and I like normally we would be sitting right next to eachother but people needed room to get in and out. Also during the interval my dad had to get me a programme as they were in the bar area and there was no access. I wasnt able to check out the disabled toilets there so I cant really give you a honest answer for that.

My first experience going to the theatre as a wheelchair user wasn’t brilliant at all really. I went to see Matilda back in 2017 and I just got plonked at the end of the row and so many people were just climbing over me all the time. I honestly had such bad anxiety that day I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t even enjoy the show in piece as I was just so stress. This is why accessibility is so important to us wheelchair users. Imagine this, If there was no ramps, no lifts anywhere in the whole world. Wheelchair users like me would never be able to get anywhere. There are so many places that are not wheelchair friendly annd its ridiculous. That’s why I’m doing this blog you see. To raise awareness about accessibility and spread the word as much as I can and give you all the information you need for a stress free trip or Holiday.

Thank you so much for reading my blog and I will see you in the next post. Let me know in the comments What’s your favorite Abba song and also whether you have seen the musical and did you enjoy it?

Love Robyn X
